Who we are
Scottish Adventures is a personal outdoor adventure blog operated by Elliot Forbes. This policy explains how we handle your data when you visit the site or create an account.
What we collect
If you create an account, we collect:
- Your name and email address
- A hashed version of your password (we never store passwords in plain text)
- Your peak-bagging activity (ticks and stats)
We also use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. It tracks aggregate page views and referral sources only.
How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Provide your account and profile functionality
- Track your Munro and peak-bagging progress
- Send password reset emails when you request them
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Cookies
Scottish Adventures does not use tracking cookies. Plausible Analytics is cookie-free. If you create an account, your session is stored in your browser's local storage.
Data storage
Your data is stored on servers hosted by Fly.io and Neon (PostgreSQL). Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage. Email delivery for password resets is handled by Amazon SES.
Your rights
You can:
- Update your profile information at any time via the profile page
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data
To make a request, email hello@scottishadventures.co.uk.
